Students may earn course credit by taking The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) exams. To receive credit, students must meet the minimum acceptable score requirements for each exam. It is the student’s responsibility to request official score reports be sent to Student Records for evaluation of exemption credit.Â
CLEP & DSST exams can be taken at Main Campus and Shaw AFB Education Center testing locations. Appointments are mandatory and you must have access to Shaw AFB if you are testing at the Shaw AFB Education Center site.

How Do I Register, Pay, and Schedule for the Exam?
- For CLEP, Get Started with CLEP to purchase your test ticket from College Board. You will need to bring. your test ticket to Testing Services the day of your exam.
Note: The first CLEP & DSST attempt is free for DANTES funded Active-Duty Military and Ready Reserve (Reserve or Guard). Eligibility is determined when obtaining your test ticket with College Board (CLEP) or establishing your account at Prometric (DSST). - Visit Testing Services Registration to schedule an appointment to test.
- Pay the required $25 proctor fee, payable to Central Carolina Technical College. You may pay the fee in person when you arrive to test, when scheduling online with Registerblast, or by phone by calling 803-774-6603. The proctor fee is waived for Active-Duty Military and DANTES funded test candidates.
