Medical Billing and Reimbursement Certificate (MBRC) – 24 Semester Hours
The Certified Professional Biller (CPB) credential identifies medical information professionals with the knowledge and skills in medical billing and the nuances of payer requirements, supporting optimal reimbursement for healthcare providers. The Central Carolina Technical College (CCTC)’s Medical Billing and Reimbursement Certificate will teach the most up-to-date knowledge and skills relating to the health insurance industry and reimbursement methodologies for correct claim submission.
The program is designed to be completed in two (2) semesters [24 credit hours]. Successful completion will prepare the student to sit for the Certified Professional Billing (CPB) exam administered by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). The MBRC program will be presented 100% online and is supported with a wide variety of methods and opportunities for direct contact with the program manager and instructors. In order to be accepted into the MBRC program, students must have successfully completed the Medical Record Coding program.
There is now a demand for trained Billing professionals to ensure optimal reimbursement is received for services rendered in compliance with federal and state regulations in a timely manner. This is the perfect window of opportunity for students to gain skills and knowledge to work in a medical billing department at a physician’s office, clinic, acute or long-term care facility, or as a claims examiner for insurance companies [third-party payers] to meet the demand of the industry.

Major in Practical Nursing (PN) Diploma in Applied Science – 48 Semester Hours
The Practical Nursing program prepares graduates to function as competent practical nurses who are caring and sensitive to diversity and use critical thinking and technology to provide care in structured settings for patients and their families/significant others. Throughout the program, the student has planned clinical experiences to complement classroom learning and to enhance skills in the application of nursing principles and associated technology. The scheduling of clinical experiences varies throughout the practical nursing program.
The Practical Nursing program prepares graduates to apply to take the National Council Licensing Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) and is approved by the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation (LLR) Board of Nursing, 110 Centerview Drive, Columbia, SC 29210, (803)896-4300, https://llr.sc.gov/nurse.
Requirements for the program are subject to change without notice in order to meet requirements of the South Carolina LLR Board of Nursing and the South Carolina Technical College System.
Successful completion of the Practical Nursing program does not guarantee licensure to practice as a licensed practical nurse.
The Diploma in Practical Nursing is a three-semester program and will accept students each fall. The program is 48 credit hours and will result in a Diploma in Applied Science in Practical Nursing upon successful completion.

Major in Teacher Education (TEDU) Associate Degree in Applied Science – 69 Semester Hours
The Teacher Education Associate Degree in Applied Science program is designed to prepare individuals for transfer to a 4-year institution majoring in Education for Teacher Licensure in one of the following areas: Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Middle Level Education, Secondary Education, Special Education, or Physical Education.
Courses in the program are available in a variety of formats.
Students transferring into a professional program for Teacher Education must earn a grade of “C” or better on all degree coursework, pass or exempt PRAXIS I, and be able to pass a Criminal Background Check.

Program Changes
Major in Nursing Associate Degree in Applied Science (Transition Nursing Option) – 65 Semester Hours
The Transition Nursing program (formerly the LPN to ADN Nursing program) is now offered to qualified paramedics and LPNs!
The program is offered each fall and the application deadline is May 31st. You will need to have completed all pre-requisites and take an entry test prior to applying. The entry test options have changed. 2024 is the last year NACE scores will be accepted. If you choose to take the NACE, which is a test on Nursing Fundamentals knowledge, you need to score a minimum of 75. The other option is to take the TEAS exam, which will be the sole admission test in 2025. You will need a minimum composite score of 65% on the TEAS exam to be able to apply for the program.

In addition to the nursing courses listed on the website, Transition Nursing students will also be required to take NUR 210 in their first semester. This course is worth 5 credit hours and includes a medical-surgical clinical component in addition to theory. While scheduling is being planned carefully to minimize the number of days required to be in class or clinical, students can expect to have something to do for school at least 3 days a week and maybe 4 at times.

Orientation to Manufacturing
Have you wanted to be part of something bigger? Looking for a new career?
Central Carolina Technical College has partnered with Becton Dickinson, Caterpillar, Continental Inc, and the Eaton Corporation to create a manufacturing orientation course. This intense week-long course consists of classroom and hands on training that will prepare students for a career in the manufacturing industry. The course will help you to write resumes, answer questions during a job interview. Each student will refresh basic math and learn some of the basic tools for the manufacturing industry including torquing and precision measurements. Each student will learn to interpret and follow work instructions. Understand industrial safety and work place ergonomics. The course will culminate in a day long simulated work environment that will award a Six Sigma Yellow Belt. Each class is limited to 11 students and will be filled on a first come first serve basis. Scholarship opportunities are available for this course.
