Central Carolina Technical College Policy Statement
Central Carolina Technical College prohibits unlawful discrimination against qualified students with disabilities and encourages full participation within the College community. Central Carolina faculty, staff, and administrators will actively support students with disabilities in all educational programs, services, and activities, in cases where such support is readily achievable and reasonable. Central Carolina Technical College, in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act, defines a qualified student with a disability as “any person who is regarded as having such an impairment, and (a) who meets the academic and technical standards requisite for admission to or participation in the College’s programs, and (b) who has a documented physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.”
Checklist for Requesting Accommodations
Before you complete the admissions process to Central Carolina Technical College, you may request reasonable accommodations. You can use accommodations during the placement test, in class and for course exams. If you are already a student, you still can request accommodations.
- Gather your documentation; updated documentation may be requested by Accessibility Services:

- Psychological Education Evaluation
- Individual Education Plan
- 504 Plan
- Documentation for a Service Animal Defined by Title II and Title III of the ADA
- Complete the Accessibility Services Accommodation Request Form and attach all requested
documents. - Schedule a meeting with the Accessibility Coordinator (accessibility@cctech.edu) to discuss
accommodations for the classroom, for testing, and other campus resources - Review your Accommodations Plan, Faculty Notifications, and other documents each semester

Register for Classes
- Meet with your advisor to decide which classes you need to take. When planning your schedule, make certain you will be able to get to class on time if you receive attendant services.
- Plan for breaks if there are disability-related issues.
- Register as early as possible. If you need an alternate form of textbooks, an interpreter or other services provided by the college, these should be requested as soon as possible prior to the beginning of the semester.
Find Your Classes and Make Sure They Are Accessible To You
Go inside each of your classrooms to check for accessibility (for example: tables, wheelchair access).
If you are a wheelchair user, and any of your classes are located on the second floor, please notify the Accessibility Coordinator as soon as possible so every effort can be made to move the class to a first-floor location.
If adjustments need to be made for any classroom, contact the Accessibility Coordinator.
Obtain Accessible Test and Materials for Classes
If you know you are going to need your books and materials in an alternate format, request these as early as possible with the Accessibility Coordinator.
Make sure you request other services you may need for class.
If alternate formatted textbooks are required, connect with the Accessibility Coordinator. Accessibility Services will request the alternate format through the college’s textbook provider. However, it may take up to six weeks to obtain the alternative textbook.
Services Not Provided by the College
Personal attendants are welcomed, but the College does not provide:
- Attendants, Shadowers, or monitors
- Interpreters for non-school activities
- Assistance with personal equipment
- Personal equipment repairs
- Medical diagnosis or medical treatment
Make sure you have a backup plan for emergencies and reliable transportation. Schedule your classes according to your available transportation.
