The start of an effective job search includes preparing your targeted resume and cover letter to submit to prospective employers, preparing your interview skills, researching prospective employers, and researching required skills and salary expectations. Career readiness is key to ensuring successful entrance into the workforce and is also the foundation upon which a successful career is launched. Career readiness, aka “Soft Skills”, is the new career currency.

Central Carolina Technical College promotes the Competencies for Career-Ready Workforce developed by the National Association of Colleges and Employers and encourages all students and alumni to further develop these eight competencies.

Central Carolina Technical College is a great place to start for students who are planning to earn a bachelor’s degree from a college or university. Nationwide, many students create an educational plan that works best for their individual financial timeline which may include completing an AA/AS degree before transferring to another school. If you are completing the AA/AS degree program, or AAS degree program, you have a number of Transfer Planning resources and services available to help create a viable transfer plan.

Many students enter college with an academic major or program in mind that will help them achieve their academic or professional goals. As you complete your courses you recognize if that major fits you and your plans or not. Many students might choose to change their major for a number of reasons. Career Services is here to help you explore majors and find the best fit for you.

The starting point for choosing a career pathway is exploring the uniqueness of you. Your values, interest, personality and strengths are major contributors to your satisfaction and motivation.
