Getting Career-Ready

Career readiness is key to ensuring successful entrance into the workforce and is also the foundation upon which a successful career is launched. Career readiness, aka “Soft Skills”, is the new career currency.

Central Carolina Technical College promotes the Competencies for Career-Ready Workforce developed by the National Association of Colleges and Employers and encourages all students and alumni to further develop these eight competencies.

  1. Career & Self-Development
  2. Communication
  3. Critical Thinking
  4. Equity & Inclusion

5. Leadership
6. Professionalism
7. Teamwork
8. Technology

You will develop these key skills in your classes and assignments, extra-curricular activities, community service, work experiences and/or internships. Check out the training videos in Big Interview to learn how to best promote these skills on your résumé and during an interview.
