CCTC’s Early College awards seven Associate Degrees
SUMTER, SC — Seven students from Manning High School enrolled in the Early College Program at Central Carolina Technical College graduated with Associate Degrees from CCTC before they completed high school. Jabril Wilson, Jared Thompson, Jesse Surette, Bailee Garneau, Ryan Hinson, James Thompson and Quadri Bell walked across the stage at CCTC’s 2017 graduation ceremony held on May fifth.
CCTC’s Early College and Dual Enrollment programs allow high school students to earn college credit by taking college courses during their junior and senior years of high school. For highly motivated students, it may be possible to finish an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree by the time they graduate high school. The Early College Program at CCTC is currently offered in Clarendon and Lee counties and will be offered to Sumter county high schools starting this Fall Semester. Dual Enrollment is offered in all four counties that the college serves.
Of the dual enrolled high school seniors, 60 percent earned 15 or more college credits. That is enough credits to save a semester’s worth of college tuition. Forty-two percent of dual enrolled students earned college credit through at least one online course offered by CCTC. High school students in Clarendon, Kershaw, Lee and Sumter counties can take advantage of these outstanding opportunities and get a jump start on a successful college journey with a smooth transition from high school to postsecondary education.
