As part of its ongoing commitment to student success and institutional improvement, Central Carolina Technical College has launched a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) titled Titan Up! Online Learning Unlocked, in conjunction with the college’s accreditation process. This initiative focuses on strengthening online education through three strategic areas: enhancing student readiness for online learning, improving the quality of online instruction, and increasing student engagement. Titan Up! reflects CCTC’s dedication to academic excellence and innovation in digital learning.

1. Implement TOL 100 – Online Learning Course
  • TOL 100, CCTC’s Mandatory Online Orientation (MOO)
  • Prepares students for online learning.
  • Required for all students before enrolling in a “D” section of the “Distance Dozen” courses.
2. Equip Faculty with Resources to Deliver Quality Online Instruction
  • Promotes Quality Matters (QM) certification and shared best practices
  • Provides professional development and assistance with designing engaging and effective digital learning experiences.
3. Leverage Technology to Boost Engagement
  • Uses the CircleIn App to provide students with a virtual community to foster student connection, peer-to-peer interaction, and support.

  1. 100% of online students complete TOL 100 before enrolling in a Distance Dozen course.
  2. 100% of online faculty achieve QM certification.
  3. +2% annually in course progression rates for Distance Dozen courses.
  • Percent of students completing TOL 100
  • Percent of faculty achieving QM certification
  • Student engagement data from CircleIn
  • Course progression rates in the Distance Dozen courses
  • Feedback from students and faculty
  • Percent of successful students (final grade of A, B, C) out of those that enrolled in the course, i.e. those that can “progress” to the next courses within their sequence or on to graduation/completion
    • benchmark > 50%
  • Combines course success and retention rates
