DESCRIPTION:                                

Under supervision and direction of the Director of TRIO Programs, serves as Veterans Upward Bound Academic Counselor. Assesses student needs and provides appropriate services to bring students to an acceptable level of academic performance to ensure program completion. Assess all students academically and maintain adequate documentation of student services. Develops Individualized Success Plans (ISPs) to assist participants in receiving needed academic assistance. Provides guidance in admissions, financial aid, and academic counseling. Counsels students on career options and college transfer opportunities. Serves as an academic advisor to participants to ensure students are achieving academic and career goals.  Manages an individual caseload. Assist Veterans Upward Bound students with college application and financial aid process through individual and group sessions. Develops and conducts workshops that will provide participants’ opportunities to learn success-oriented skills. Coordinate classes and supervise instructors and tutors on data collection and classroom responsibilities. Provides guidance and in-service training to teaching assistants. Provides reports to Director to ensure participants are following the required guidelines of program.   Maintains compliance with Federal regulations governing the project. Ensures that all participants meet Federal guidelines for the program. Assist with the arrangement, implementation, and supervision of cultural and educational trips attended by participants. Completes required professional development. Participates in campus and community Veterans’ Associations activities. Participates in Central Carolina Technical College committees as requested.  Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:                        

Master’s degree in a related field; or a Bachelor’s degree plus two years of experience in student services programs. Valid Driver’s license required.

$35,875
