CCTC set to freeze tuition for 2021-22 academic year
Sumter, SC (04/07/2021) — Central Carolina Technical College and its Area Commission will not raise tuition for CCTC students for the 2021-22 academic year.
In recognition of economic uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic, this tuition freeze ensures that CCTC students will see no change to their tuition bill in the 2021 fall semester. The base tuition rate will remain at $194 per credit hour for those in Clarendon, Kershaw, Lee and Sumter counties.
“Central Carolina Technical College remains dedicated to providing a quality education for all students in our area,” CCTC President Dr. Kevin Pollock said. “As students continue to navigate the unprecedented events of this pandemic, we are putting a freeze on our tuition for the next academic year. I thank our Area Commission for working with us to be able to continue to provide our students the necessary opportunities for success.”
By doing so, Central Carolina remains one of the most affordable higher education institutions in the region, opening the door for students to reach their potential through a variety of programs.
Students will be able to view their bill on their myCCTC account or by visiting the Financial Aid Office. Tuition, in addition to other student fees, can be paid online, in-person, over the phone or by mail. There are also payment plans available to further accommodate all financial situations.
In addition to the tuition freeze for Fall 2021, CCTC helps students afford the cost of higher education in other ways.
The South Carolina Lottery Tuition Assistance Program (LTAP) was established in 2001 under the S.C. Educational Lottery Act to provide a supplemental resource to South Carolina residents attending two-year public or independent institutions. Beginning Fall 2021, eligible students may receive $85 per credit hour to be used toward the cost-of-tuition for those enrolled in up to 15 credit hours. LTAP is a “last dollar” scholarship, meaning that all federal and state grants must be awarded first.
In addition to LTAP, South Carolina’s technical colleges offer the SC WINS Scholarship Program. SC WINS is a statewide technical college scholarship supplement for LTAP and helps cover any tuition and mandatory fees left after applying all other scholarships and grants. Recipients who are enrolled in up to 15 credit hours can receive up to $65 per credit hour. A book allowance of up to $300 per year is also available for students enrolled in a critical workforce area.
