CCTC Art Gallery shows art from students at ADMS
The first exhibit of 2019 in the Central Carolina Technical College Foundation Gallery of Art and Expression, The Gallery Upstairs, showcases artwork from art teacher Cynthia Hoffman’s seventh and eighth-grade students from Alice Drive Middle School. Over 90 paintings and charcoal sketches are on display. Also shared in the exhibit is other notable work by Hoffman’s students including a drawing that was featured on a billboard, Christmas cards with student artwork from the Mayor’s Christmas card program, Sumter County Fair winning submissions and a mission patch that was designed by ADMS students for the NASA Astronauts that was sent to space.
The opening reception for this exhibit was held Thursday, January 17 at CCTC’s Main Campus. Students toured the exhibit and enjoyed a small reception.
“We at Central Carolina Technical College are very excited to have Alice Drive Middle School as a Partner in Education and to be able to collaborate on projects that benefit students, our institutions and the community. CCTC focuses a great deal on technical skills and workplace readiness, but we also recognize the importance of art and creativity. It is important to develop all these aspects in our students – young and old. I would like to commend Mrs. Hoffman for her work and dedication to cultivate these young artists and I look forward to our continued partnerships,” says Dean of Learning Resources and Planning Nancy Bishop.
The exhibit is open to the public and is located on CCTC’s Main Campus on the second floor of building M500. The exhibit is on display through February 28.
