$1,000 Gift from Republican Men’s and Women’s Club Helps CCTC Student
The Kershaw County Republican Women’s Club and the Kershaw County Republican Men’s Club donated the proceeds from a club fundraiser to the Central Carolina Technical College Foundation.
The clubs held a joint oyster roast and barbeque fundraiser in 2021 and decided to help a needy college student by donating some of the proceeds to the CCTC Foundation in the form of a one-time scholarship.
The check was presented to Vice President for Institutional Advancement Misty Hatfield from Women’s Club President Sissy Griffin-Ballew.
“The women hope their funds can help a Kershaw County student make their educational dreams come true,” Griffin-Ballew said. “The American dream is for everyone and we just want to help one student with their dream.”
The scholarship will be awarded according to the guidelines of the Foundation Scholarship Program with preference that it be awarded to a student from Kershaw County, enrolled in a trade program with a financial need.
“It is a true pleasure to receive this gift on behalf of the CCTC Foundation,” Hatfield said. “The money can be used for tuition and/or books and will go a long way in helping a deserving student reach their academic goals.”
