*Funds to support Student Nutritional Access Center

The Walmart Community Grants Team awarded a $2,000 grant to the Central Carolina Technical College Foundation to support the Student Nutritional Access Center or SNAC.

The Student Nutritional Access Center is a food pantry created to assist CCTC students in need of non-perishable food items. Twice per month, students can stop by SNAC to receive 1-2 bags of groceries.

CCTC Special Populations Coordinator, Lara Stephenson, and Student Life Coordinator, Riquelle Robinson, organized a Thanksgiving meal box drive for students and their families. Central Carolina employees contributed items like macaroni and cheese and stuffing and the Walmart grant helped purchase turkeys for the meal boxes.

Thanks to the generosity of Walmart Store No. 511, meals were provided for 26 local families this Thanksgiving.
Additional campus organizations who assisted with the project included Phenomenal Vibes, TRIO LPD and the Student Engagement Department.
“We are excited that Walmart approved the grant proposal,” Director of Development and Alumni Misty Hatfield said. “It shows the company’s commitment to the students in our community.”

Walmart’s community grant program supports initiatives in local communities. “We are thrilled to support your work in our communities and share your desire to provide local impact. By receiving this grant, you are part of a long history of Walmart’s commitment to giving back to the communities where we operate. In fact, Mrs. Helen Walton used to say, ‘It’s not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived,’” said Senior Director, Community Giving Walmart Giving Kabir Kumar.
