What is GED by 23?

A collaboration with the SC Department of Education Adult Education Office, GED by 23 is an initiative designed to increase the number of GED completions by the year 2023. Through a partnership with the South Carolina Technical College System, individuals who complete a GED or high school diploma through a SC Adult Education office are eligible to receive funds to cover the tuition and fees to attend CCTC.

Eligible students must meet the following criteria:

  • Complete a high school diploma or GED through one of the 52 South Carolina’s state-approved Adult Education offices between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2023.
  • Complete two sections of the GED and are part of an integrated education and training career pathway between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2023.

Eligible expenditures include tuition and associated fees for credit and non-credit training programs.

Eligible programs must lead directly to employment and can be completed in on year or less.

The Accounting Specialist Certificate program provides students with a working knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting activities. This online course is the first step in learning the Six-Sigma methodology. Yellow Belt training consists of the following; Lean overview, Lean Six-Sigma principles, 8 Wastes, 5-S, the data driven quality strategy called DMAIC, Process Mapping, as well as the various Six-Sigma Tools. The Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification is awarded to participants who successfully complete this training. This course is 10 hours and students must complete the training within two weeks.
