The groundbreaking ceremony for the AMTTC has been scheduled for Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 10:00 am. This ceremony officially marks the start of the year-long renovation of the old Walmart facility into a state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing Technology Training Center.
Rodgers Builders, the contractor for the AMTTC will host a Project Information and Vendor Outreach Session to discuss the construction of the Central Carolina Technical College–Advanced Manufacturing Technology Training Center project on May 28, 2014 from 5 – 7 pm in room M401 of building M400 on main campus. Interested participants and minority/local businesses are strongly encouraged to attend.

Central Carolina Technical College’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Training Center (AMTTC) will be a state-of-the-art industrial training center for training applicants and employees of Continental Tire the Americas in association with readySC (a division of the SC Technical College System). In addition, the College will relocate and expand its Basic and Advanced Mechatronics, Machine Tool/CNC, and Engineering Graphics Technology programs to this facility, and provide training space for other existing and future industries in Sumter County.
The facility being renovated is 104,000 square feet and was previously a Walmart. Approximately 85,000 square feet of the building will be renovated during this project. Funding for the project was secured through State Appropriations and a U.S. Department of Commerce EDA grant. The project is expected to be complete in May of 2015.
