Advises African American male cohort students following College policies and ASC procedures. Maintains knowledge of program requirements and advisement methodology by participating in training and collaborating with academic departments. Schedules and completes student advising appointments. Refers students to additional support resources as needed. Completes student program plans each semester. Performs advisement in a highly accurate and confidential manner. Implements targeted strategies and activities to increase African American male student enrollment. Works with recruiters to increase awareness of opportunities for African American males and participates in recruitment activities. Works with college program managers to remove barriers. Provides workshops at local high-minority high schools and career centers for students and teachers. Makes connections within the community to increase opportunities for sharing information. Uses CRM Retention Module for communication, early alert, and student data tracking of African American male cohort students. Serves on student SUCCESS Team, evaluates cohort student needs, and connect students to college resources and student support services while maintaining records of referrals in the CRM. Maintains contact with cohort students and provide updates, encouragement, and prompt feedback and intervention if students are off-track. Works congenially, collaboratively, and effectively with other advisors and PBI Project team members to achieve project objectives. Completes and submits data and reports to PBI ACE Director. Makes suggestions on ways to remove barriers for students and improve retention and graduation. Supports the institutionalization of retention strategies.
