Medical Claims Coding Certificate ONLINE

The Medical Claims Coding Certificate Program is offered completely ONLINE. Courses in this Certificate include Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, CPT & HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, Medical Billing and Reimbursement, and preparation for the CPC exam. This Certificate is designed to prepare students to become employed in a medical facility or to be self-employed. Students must successfully complete the courses in sequence. Books are included in the tuition. Online training is designed to mirror face-to-face courses and students will have direct communication with their instructor to help answer questions. This 266 hour program is $2,650. Tuition for the entire program can be paid in full or students may register for each course individually (see below).

Medical Terminology for Coders: Medical terminology is used to describe the human body and conditions, processes in a medical-environment. This course covers medical terms, including roots, prefixes, and suffixes, with emphasis on spelling and definition. 48 hours - $450

Anatomy and Physiology: This course is a study of the structure and functions of the human body in order to prepare coders to extract clinical information from medical records. Emphasis is placed on the proper use of anatomical terms in the medical coding environment. 48 hours - $450

ICD-10-CM: International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification: This course is the study of classifying diagnoses and reason for visits in all American healthcare settings. Students will learn how to assign codes to capture the diagnoses component of the patient encounter. 36 hours - $450

Current Procedural Terminology (CPT)/ Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS): The CPT code set (copyright protected by the AMA) describes medical, surgical, and diagnostic services and is designed to communicate uniform information about medical services and procedures among physicians, coders, patients, and payers. This course provides a basic study of the CPT and HCPCS coding and classification systems particular to the physician's office setting. Students will learn how to assign codes to capture the professional component of services provided. 48 hours - $450

Billing and Reimbursement: This course provides an introduction to medical billing and reimbursement practices with emphasis on primary payers such as Medicare and Medicaid as well as private payers in order to receive payment for services rendered by a healthcare provider. 38 hours - $400


CPC Examination Preparation Class: This course is designed to provide the student with a complete certification examination review. The course reviews Medical Terminology that is used for each system of the body as well as Anatomy and Physiology, CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM coding. 48 hours - $450
