National Career Readiness Certificate

Want to be noticed by employers? Earn a free National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) *

As part of the SC Work Ready Communities Initiative, individuals may take the WorkKeys assessment FREE of charge one time. The NCRC is a portable, industry-recognized credential earned from taking three WorkKeys® assessments (Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics & Locating Information) that identify workplace competencies.

What are the benefits of earning an NCRC?

  • Certifies your foundational workplace skills.
  • Gives an employer additional insight into qualifications.
  • Demonstrates your willingness and ability to prove the skills important to today's workplace.
  • Gives you a competitive edge, whether you are applying for a job or working toward a promotion.

The Certificate is an accurate measurement of what you can do, rather than what you know.

There are four levels of the NCRC. They are determined by the participant's score on the three WorkKeys assessments: Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information and Locating Information. The four levels are: bronze, silver, gold, and platinum.

Bronze Certificate: Certifies that you have the basic skills for 30% of the jobs in the U.S. To earn a Bronze Certificate, you must score at least a "3" on all three assessments.
Silver Certificate: Certifies that you have the basic skills for 65% of the jobs in the U.S. To earn a Silver Certificate, you must score at least a "4" on all three assessments.
Gold Certificate:  Certifies that you have the basic skills for 90% of the jobs in the U.S. To earn a Gold Certificate, you must score at least a "5" on all three assessments.
Platinum Certificate:  Certifies that you have the basic skills for 99% of the jobs in the U.S. To earn a Platinum Certificate, you must score at least a "6" all three assessments.
