Q: When will Central Carolina Technical College implement the smoke-free and tobacco-free policy?
A: The smoke-free and tobacco-free policy will go into effect on January 1, 2016.
Q: Will there be any areas on campus that are approved for smoking?
A: No tobacco use on any CCTC property will be allowed.
Q: Can I smoke in my car?
A: If your car is parked on CCTC property, you will not be allowed to smoke in it. The policy does not allow any tobacco use on CCTC property.
Q: Are electronic cigarettes (e-cigs) allowed?
A: No. The policy prohibits the use of electronic cigarettes.
Q: What should I do if I see someone smoking or using tobacco?
A: If you see someone smoking or using tobacco you should politely inform them of the smoke-free and tobacco-free policy.
Q: What if they do not stop smoking or using tobacco after I politely explain the policy?
A: You should inform one of the CCTC Security Officers on duty so they can handle the situation.
Q: We have events that are open to the public. Can our guests smoke or use tobacco?
A: No. The policy will not allow smoking or tobacco use on any CCTC property at any time. This includes visitors, volunteers, contractors and vendors.
Q: Will CCTC offer resources for students, faculty and staff who want to quit using tobacco?
A: Yes. CCTC will provide resources to assist you in your pursuit of a tobacco-free lifestyle.
Q: Why is CCTC going smoke-free and tobacco-free?
A: CCTC values the health and wellbeing of our students, faculty and staff. We are going tobacco-free to provide the healthiest learning and working environment possible.
Q: Will all CCTC campuses be smoke-free and tobacco-free?
A: Yes. The policy will include all Central Carolina Technical College campuses and property in our four-county service area.
