CCTC is now “Green Zone” Certified

The goal of Green Zone training is to develop a very visible network of faculty and staff at CCTC to whom Active Duty, Veteran, and dependent family members may go to receive assistance.  These faculty and staff members have voluntarily agreed to attend specialized training to increase their awareness and understanding of the unique needs of the military and military family member.  Through this training they are able to be a source of assistance and resources to these military affiliated students.

 


2018 School Counselors Summer Institute Participants

Counselors, career specialists, career coaches, and coordinators joined us the week of July 9 – 13, 2018 to learn more about and experience being a student at Central Carolina Technical College. We are excited they decided to join us!


Central Carolina Scholars’ Signing Day was a Blast!

 

 

Central Carolina Scholars student Kristen Nygaard speaks to future Scholars students about her experience in the Scholars program. Kristen, a Kershaw native, graduated from Lugoff-Elgin High School and has been a at CCTC since Fall of 2016. She is currently working toward an Engineering Design Technology Associate Degree in Applied Science and plans to graduate this coming May 2018.

On Saturday, April 21 soon-to-be high school students and their parents attended Central Carolina Scholars’ Signing Day at the Main Campus of Central Carolina Technical College. CCTC President Dr. Michael Mikota welcomed and congratulated the students and their parents on this opportunity of a lifetime. Faculty spoke and were available to help guide the incoming students through financial aid, registration, student life activities and other opportunities. There was a signing ceremony for each student and their family, which included a Central Carolina Scholars baseball cap, pen and contract. CCTC is proud to have these bright high school graduates become part of the college’s team. Lunch was served following the signing ceremony.

The Scholars Ready Gathering is designed around you, helping you to uncover the answers to the final questions you have, and providing you information about campus resources, programs, and services.  Your Scholars Ready Gathering is being held as follows:

Tips for 1st Time Freshman

  1. Visit www.fafsa.ed.gov and Create your Federal Student Aid Identification (FSA ID) and Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  2. Complete a CCTC Admissions Application (Online or at a Local Campus)
  3. Register for Placement Testing here: http://www.cctech.edu/resources/testing-center/testing-center-registration/.
  4. If applicable, provide acceptable ACT and/or SAT score report, based on requirements shown here: http://www.cctech.edu/admissions/admissions-policies-and-procedures/
  5. Provide an Official FINAL High School Transcript or GED Certificate
  6. Provide the Admissions Office with a valid State Issued Identification Card
  7. Meet with a CCTC Admissions Counselor for Admissions, Advisement and Class Registration

Recruiter Diana Green with Massage Therapy students at Coca-Cola in Bishopville, SC.

Central Carolina participated in the annual Health & Safety Fair, Wednesday, June 7th at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Bishopville, SC. During the event, Central Carolina showcased two Health Sciences programs: Massage Therapy and Medical Assisting.  Employees were able to receive free blood pressure screenings, as well as, free massages from the students enrolled in CCTC’s Health Sciences programs.

Employees also received valuable information about Central Carolina Scholars– the “Free Tuition” opportunity for 2017 to 2019 Lee County high school graduates from Lee County schools.  Other opportunities available for students at CCTC’s Lee County Site was also available.
