Certificate in Pre-Dental Hygiene (PDNH)
36 Semester Hours
This certificate allows students to take general education courses in preparation to transfer into an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene program at another college. After successful completion of the Pre-Dental Hygiene Certificate, students may apply for admission to another college. Completion of this certificate does not guarantee entrance into any programs.
A dental hygienist is a health care professional who specializes in educational, preventative and prophylactic care. Classroom and clinical instruction includes the following: principles of self care, examinations for abnormal conditions, nutritional counseling, application of sealants, performing radiographs (X-Rays), and scaling procedures.
Transfer Requirements/Academic Standards
Criteria-specific requirements for admission into a dental hygiene programs include the following:
- High school or college credits (with a grade of "C" or higher in algebra, biology, and chemistry)
- Specific admission requirements to the college of the student's choice may be obtained from transferring college. Application for transfer should be completed as early as possible.
