South Carolina Public Employee Benefit Authority (PEBA) is the administrator for South Carolina state employee insurance and retirement benefits. PEBA offers comprehensive insurance coverage. Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Long-Term Disability, Dependent Care and Medical Spending Accounts are available for voluntary enrollment for eligible* employees.

Long-Term Disability
Basic Supplemental
  • Included at no employee cost with health plan enrollment
  • 90-day benefit waiting period
  • 62.5% of pre-disability earnings, monthly maximum of $800
  • Voluntary enrollment
  • Premium based on age, annual salary and benefit waiting period selection
  • 90-day benefit waiting period
  • 180-day benefit waiting period
  • 65% of first $12,307 of pre-disability earnings, less any deductible income
  • Minimum monthly benefit: $100
  • Maximum monthly benefit: $8,000
  • Term policy with conversion option at the end of employment
