Veterans share service stories

From 1941 to 2007, lots of things have changed, but many have remained the same. It was evident last Wednesday night that the pride and sacrifice of our service men and women is one thing that remains the same.

Central Carolina Technical College hosted its Veterans' Forum on Wednesday, November 14 at the main Sumter campus.

Fourteen veterans and current service members joined a panel discussion and took questions from the audience as part of the event.

The veterans represented every war the United States has been involved in from World War II to the present.

Among the group were three members of the CCTC family: Don Rogers, Joann Upchurch, and Rodgers Greenawalt.

"This was a terrific opportunity for our community to hear the fascinating stories these veterans have to tell and to learn more about the great work they did in service to our country," said event organizer and CCTC history professor Lisa Dimitriadis.
