Welding Career Exploration Planned for January 12
Central Carolina Technical College, Thompson Construction Group and the Sumter One Stop Workforce Center and teaming up to provide residents more information about training for careers in pipewelding. An information meeting will be held January 12 at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Central Carolina, Building 700, Room 707.Construction has been long thought of as a dirty, blue collar job but do you know that construction is the third highest paying industry in the nation. It’s the jobs that can’t be replaced by a machine or sent off shore. Construction workers build America!
Thompson Construction Group is looking for pipe welders who work safe, are motivated, and are well trained. Pay for pipewelders is from $18.00 to $22.00 per hour. Thompson generally works in the Southeast and pays per diem when you are working away from home.
Training to become a pipewelder is offered at Central Carolina Technical College through a 19-week program. Funding for this training may be available through One Stop if you meet the eligibility requirements.
