Confidentiality of Student Records

In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, (FERPA) of 1994, as amended, Central Carolina Technical College is restricted as to the release of certain records without written consent of the student. This Act provides guidelines to protect the privacy of education records and establishes the rights for students. Central Carolina can, however, release directory information, which includes the student’s name, address, telephone number, program of study, date of enrollment, email address, awards received and degree/diploma awarded without the student’s written permission.

The College can also allow access to student records, without student written permission, as follows:

  • The administrative staff, instructors, and counselors for educational related reasons;
  • Federal, state, and local educational and governmental agencies;
  • Organizations conducting studies for educational agencies or institutions for the purpose of developing, validating, or administering predictive tests, student aid, or instruction;
  • Accrediting agencies; and
  • Department of Defense

Students who do not wish to have this information released must notify annually the Registrar in writing.
