Student Services Center now open
Students of Central Carolina Technical College now have a new place to go for many of their needs. The new Student Services center opened this week on the main campus in Building 300 or "The Round Building" as it is known. The center now houses most of the essential services for students, including Admissions, Counseling, Financial Services, Cashier, Career Services, a registration center and an advisement center. The intention is to provide a "one-stop" services center for the most common services students need.
The decision to move to this model was made after the college's Strategic Enrollment Management team studied other similar centers at colleges across South Carolina. It offers convenience and simplicity in the enrollment process.
"As we studied this issue and visited other campuses across South Carolina, it became clear that this was a model we should use," said Aggie White, Chief Student Services Officer. "The layout and visibility of the Round Building made it an obvious choice."
Previously, the various offices providing these services were located throughout Building 100, which could cause confusion and inefficiency, especially for the new student.
Utilizing the round layout of the new site, the center of the building will house welcome center, administrative center and financial services. The offices around the outside will house the various services. The center also includes an online services lab for registration and other related services.
As a part of this overall plan, several other renovation projects are also planned around the campus, including moving the testing center closer to Student Services, and creating more office space for faculty and staff in Building 500.
